Oliver Harland was born in 1977 in the UK and attended Mary Hare Grammar School for the Deaf in Newbury, Berkshire from 1989 to 1997. He went on to the Kent Institute of Art & Design in Maidstone and in 1998 he passed with a BTEC Diploma Foundation Studies in Art & Design. Oliver then went to London Guildhall University and graduated in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art.

Oliver has exhibited in England and New York. He is a profoundly deaf artist who mainly paints in oil. He also does sketches and charcoal drawings as preparation for his paintings.

Oliver lives in Folkestone and works as part of the Creative Foundation, an organisation which is in the process of regenerating the historic old town and encouraging a buzzing artistic nerve-centre in Kent.
